At the crossroads... is Jesus calling us to be as persistent as the woman in the story in praying for and seeking justice, and as hopeful and trusting that God will grant it quickly? Let this faith be true for us and for the sake of all who are hungry, seeking shelter and safety, and suffering in any way. Welcome God’s faith and justice. Welcome all!
Sunday Worship with Holy Communion at 10:00 am
Everyone is welcome here!

This Sunday, October 20th has been designated Shelbourne Community Kitchen Sunday, an
opportunity for us to make a donation to assist the Kitchen with its many supportive programs and nutritional food distribution to its many members. Thank you to Clarice Dillman, Board Chair, and Kim Cummins, Program Coordinator, for joining us to provide an update on the Kitchen.
Last Sunday, there were special Kitchen donation envelopes in your mailboxes, which you may use, or you may identify the Shelbourne Community Kitchen on your regular offering envelope, today, or at any time you wish. Last Sunday $355.00 was donated. Your generosity is appreciated. Every little bit helps.

You are Invited
Bring a friend and drop by Lutheran Church of the Cross on Sat. Nov. 2nd anytime between 10 am and 2 pm. Come in and browse the fun collection of jewelry, scarves, ties, purses and more. There is also some clothing, hats, a few shoes, and some quirky things for you, or as a Christmas gift for someone.
Once you’ve found your “must have” items, you are invited to grab a cup of tea, coffee, or juice and sit munching a homemade cookie or two. Refreshments will be by donation to support the Social Justice Committee’s continued efforts in sponsoring refuges.
In 2019 the number of those seeking shelter from natural or human-made disasters continues to overwhelm host countries resources. For example, there are 6 million displaced persons in war ravaged Syria, with 3.66 million registered Syrians refugees being hosted by Turkey. And in the Sudan (2016 UN stats), 273,261 South Sudanese refugees remaining in camps.
As the Social Justice Committee nears the end the end of its financial commitment to the Nora family, we can consider future requests. Currently Timmer and Haile await completion of their official paper work before starting their new lives in Victoria. After that?
Our Committee would like to thank you for on-going support and interest in our joint work toward social justice in God’s world.
Susan Beiderwieden,
Social Justice Committee
