Gathering Food for Thanksgiving Sunday
Donations of perishable and non-perishable items for the Shelbourne Community Kitchen will be received as part of worship this Thanksgiving Sunday, October 13 at 10 AM. Items may be added to the display of food around the Communion table before worship or during the gathering of the offering. Thank you for your generous support.
Sunday October 20th Fundraiser for Shelbourne Community Kitchen
The Fall Supper in
support of the Shelbourne Community Kitchen will not take place this year.  It has been a great financial support to the Kitchen and a wonderful community gathering.  However, Sunday, Oct. 20th has been designated Shelbourne Community Kitchen Sunday. This is an opportunity for us to make a donation to assist the Kitchen with its many supportive programs.  In your mailbox is a special envelope you may use to make your donation, or you may identify the Shelbourne Community Kitchen on your regular offering envelope. Your generosity is appreciated.  Every little bit helps.
Election day in Canada is October 21.
KAIROS
encourages Canadian citizens to learn about the issues, read the party platforms, and exercise their democratic right to vote.
To assist you, KAIROS is offering background information on ecological justice, gender justice, Indigenous rights, and migrant justice, as well as questions for candidates.

Stewardship Committee
Welcoming those who are new
Church of the Cross will
welcome those who are new and others who have decided to become members of the congregation on October 20th at 10:00 am. This order for Affirmation of Baptism is an expression of mutual commitment to one another in Christian community together. If you are wondering, considering, interested in joining the congregation and participating in this day, please contact Pastor Lyle, Pastor Lyndon or the Church office as soon as possible. All are welcome!
Vision and Priorities for Church of the Cross
Thank you to the 25 people who were able to join in the
meeting on Saturday, September 27, about the vision and ministry priorities for Church of the Cross for the next three to five years. A list of 10 possible priorities was considered which are posted on the walls in the upper hall. To give more people the opportunity to participate, an online survey is being developed as well as a paper resource. If you have any comments or suggestions please be in contact with a member of Council, Pastor Lyndon, Pastor Lyle or the church office. And please pray for God’s Spirit to guide us in the directions of this ministry together.
Thank you to everyone who attended Jazz Vespers on Sunday, October 6th, featuring Valdy and the Bob Watts Trio with Karel Roessingh on piano. It was a fantastic night of music in support of the Shelbourne Community Kitchen. With your donations and a special donor’s matching donation, $16,697 was raised for food security programming in our community. Thank you for your ongoing generosity and support!
