Stewardship Pledge Week 4 -
Devoted to Generousity
Now I bring the first of the fruit that you, O Lord, have given me. Deuteronomy 26:10
Stewardship takes may forms. We are truly blessed with people who generously share their time and talents: those who provide beautiful music, plan and support worship with Holy communion, provide coffee and treats, serve on Church Council, serve on Boards and Committees, teach Sunday School, STEAM and summer programs for children, provide building maintenance, lead learning programs, book studies, games nights and prayer groups, and more. You include Church of the Cross in your prayers, some of you have included the Church in your wills, and you generously support the church locally, in our Synod and National office. We are grateful for all of your stewardship.
To date, 59 pledge cards have been received. When you are able, please complete and return your pledge card to the church office or place it in the offering plate. Your pledges are very helpful to church council as they plan the 2020 budget. However you choose to help, thank you, good and faithful stewards.

Did you know…
That a quiet hero exists in Vic West that partners with a quiet hero on Shelbourne Street?
Soap for Hope, a program of Disaster Aid Canada, works out of a non-descript warehouse with coordinator Kara Udell and a host of volunteers. The program collects gently used/unused soap and hygiene products from the hotel and accommodation industry that would otherwise be discarded. Volunteers reprocess the items to redistribute them to those in need. Soap and shampoo are also used in international projects and disaster situations in Disaster Aid Kits.
Did you know that… Soap for Hope keeps hundreds of thousands of plastic bottles from the landfill annually? Soap for Hope and the Shelbourne Community Kitchen work together to provide personal sized shampoos, conditioners, body wash, lotions and soap for the Pantry? In December, Soap for Hope & the Shelbourne Community Kitchen Panty Program will offer a limited number of linen packs from Soap for Hope, complete with fuzzy slippers?
And now you know, there’s an awfully lot of interesting things happening around our neighbourhood.
Susan Beiderwieden, Social Justice Committee
