Stewardship Pledge Week 2 -
Devoted to Generousity
Blessed are those who trust in the Lord. Jeremiah 17:7
We praise God for the generous and faithful financial support contributed by people of the congregation. We anticipate that the 2020 annual budget will be in approximately $450,000.00:
- 60% is for salaries, benefits and ministry support (Pastor Lyle McKenzie, Pastor Lyndon Sayers, Admin. Assistant Deb Neal, Cantor Brian Wismath, Choral Scholars Gina Johnson and Grady Forsberg as well as contracts with Bookkeeper Tammy Heard, yard maintenance and custodial services.)
- 21% of the budget is devoted to mortgage payments and building maintenance costs (utilities, repairs, insurance, etc.),·
- 8% is contributed to the wider church and social justice concerns (ELCIC, BC Synod, Lutheran Theological Seminary, Shelbourne Community Kitchen, Refugees, etc.)
- 11% is utilized for ministry and administrative support costs (Worship, Education, Deacons and supplies).
Donations are made to the church in a variety of ways. Some contributors use weekly offering envelopes, others give monthly, and an increasing number use direct deposit. Barry Walker, Financial Secretary, will once again be asking those who use envelopes to indicate if they prefer weekly or monthly contributions for 2020. If you are interested in converting to direct deposit please contact Barry Walker, Financial Secretary or Deb. Neal, Administrative Assistant, through the church office.
Your method of supporting the congregation is whatever works best for you.
However you choose to contribute, we give you thanks.

A Note of Thanks
Dear Church,
I thank God for you all helping me. You people were there for me in times of pain and tears. I really appreciate your love, kindness, care, concern, and all of the prayers you have offered for me. I had to move quickly because of my living situation. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to say good bye in person. We will always be connected. Please remember me in your prayers, I will visit you again.
Love,
Irene
(Irene Suwo was helped by Church of the Cross through a refugee sponsorship and has now settled into her new life in Canada.)

Artist in Residence project at Luther Court
Luther Court believes that the Artist in Residence program will help connect our residents to a wealth of learning in both information and experience. We want to create an element of storytelling in the program so that the seniors involved can experience increased socialization, cognitive stimulation and provide an outlet for self expression. This can lead to improved self-esteem, a sense of autonomy and an overall feeling of belonging within our Community of Care.
This valuable program, which is entitled “Creative Circle Storytime” will be held on the 2nd floor sunroom each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2:00-3:30 pm starting Thursday, November 14th. Our facilitating artist will be Libby Oliver.
Libby Oliver has a BFA with honours from the University of Victoria, where she
specialized in photography and installation art. Libby previously studied International Development and Gender at the University of Guelph.
If you’re interested in checking out Libby’s latest projects, please go to her
website https://chewonthisart.com/
