Provincial and Regional restrictions have been updated as of April 8, 2022.
Here is the public health restrictions page.
At Church of the Cross masks are recommended but not required. Choir members have been asked to wear masks and those singing are encouraged to as well.
In-Person Worship, Sunday, 10 AM PDT
Church Council continues to work to see that in-person worship is safer for everyone. We will adjust our plans as health orders change.
Being vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for the health of yourself and others. We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be fully vaccinated.
We will continue to livestream worship each Sunday.
May 1, Third Sunday of Easter
Everyone planning to come to worship are asked to follow these requirements:
- If you are not feeling well and experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms or if you are not vaccinated, please stay home and participate in worship online.
- You are encouraged but not required to wear a mask when entering the building and throughout worship.
- Observe social distancing.
- Sanitize or wash hands as needed.
- You are welcome to sing and you are encouraged to wear a mask.
- We will greet one another and share the peace at a distance.
- Holy Communion will be served with bread and individual glasses of wine that are spaced in the trays. You may commune with bread or wine alone if you wish.
- It is not required that people register for worship ahead of time or sign in as you arrive.
We will continue to make adjustments as needed and keep you informed of any changes. Your feedback on your experience with in-person worship is valued. Please let any member of Church Council, Pastors, or the church office know of any questions, concerns or ideas for making in-person worship and Sunday School safer and meaningful for everyone.

Anti-racism in University Sport with Braeden McKenzie
Tuesday, MAY 10, 7 PM PDT over Zoom
The Social Justice Committee invites you to a presentation and Q&A over Zoom with Braeden McKenzie, the next speaker in the 2021/22 series on anti-racism.
A Zoom link will be sent out to the congregation e-mail list ahead of the event.
Braeden is a Senior Research Assistant in the Indigeneity, Diaspora, Equity and Anti-racism in Sport (IDEAS) Research Lab at the University of Toronto. Within his role with the IDEAS lab, Braeden helped lead and co-write the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Anti-Racism Report which sought to highlight experiences of race and racism within the OUA for students, coaches, and administrators in the athletic conference. Currently, Braeden and his family live in Victoria BC. He is a PhD candidate, and Course Instructor working in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Toronto. As of January 2022, he also works as the Equity Data and Research Analyst within the Equity and Human Rights Office (EQHR) at the University of Victoria.
Because not everyone understands what racism is, or how white privilege operates, many athletes have had to suffer in silence. The IDEAS project sought to learn more about the experiences of Black, Biracial, and Indigenous student-athletes coaches, and sport administrators.
Some of the focus questions for this research project were:
- How is racism and anti-racism perceived and experienced in the Black, Biracial, and Indigenous sport communities on university campuses?
- What role do post-secondary educational institutions play in racism and anti-racism experiences in sport?
- How can anti-racism be improved in the sport community at the post-secondary educational institutional level?
Listen to a one minute video about this report.

MAYStruation Days for Girls
MAYstruation is a month-long event building up to World Menstrual Health Day on May 28th. MAYStruation, the first National Project by Days for Girls Canada is to inspire people everywhere to start the conversation about period poverty, menstrual equity, and menstrual health education. Many cultures treat menstruation as a taboo subject and girls must endure isolation, ostracization and shame during their period, unable to go to school or work when they are menstruating.
During the month of May, please paint your thumbnails red, make your own MYcycle, spread awareness, and donate to the Victoria Team Days for Girls or Days to show your support. Click Here. Select Victoria BC to donate to the local Team who makes kits to send overseas to Refugees around the world.
To help shatter the stigma of menstruation Days for Girls provides a sustainable menstrual hygiene kit to girls and women world-wide who not have access to menstrual supplies either because they cannot afford them or they are not available. The kits are provided at no cost to the recipients. Trained personnel not only ensure the kits go to girls and women needing supplies but also teach the recipients about their cycle to instill self-confidence and dignity while also providing health training. Each kit contains washable shields, liners, waterproof pouch, panties, washcloth, and soap all contained in a drawstring backpack.
