CFUV Queer Histories and Futures for LGBTQ2S+ Elders 55+

Check out an upcoming project launching at CFUV called Queer Histories and Futures, which will run from June 15th-September 16th, 2022. This project is focused on fostering community, digital literacy, and technical skills among LGBTQ2S+ seniors (55+) in Victoria; and increasing intergenerational connections between LGBTQ2S+ people of all ages.

Check out an article about the project: here.

“CFUV’s goal with this program is to bring together members of Victoria’s LGBTQ2S+ community for intergenerational community building and storytelling. For folks who already have experience in radio, audio production, and podcasting, this is a chance to skill share, as well as gain further experience in these areas.

This project will include regular community meet-ups, workshops on audio production, storytelling, podcasting and broadcasting, as well as facilitated discussions. No experience is required, and participation can be flexible to suit your schedule.

We are looking for general participants in the project. We are also looking for guidance to help shape the Queer Histories and Futures project by gathering a steering committee.

The steering committee will meet and be consulted with to help ensure the program best fits the needs of queer and trans seniors in our community, but members of the steering committee can also be involved in the general project.

If you’re interested in getting involved in the project, fill out the form linked here.

Feel free to share the link and details with anyone you think might be interested.
Also, please feel free to pass along any names or organizations that you think might be interested in hearing about this project.

BC Synod Missions Committee is now Accepting CECF Applications for a June Intake

WHAT IS GOD UP TO IN THE BC SYNOD?

What is God up to in our communities?
How can we learn what the Spirit is doing in our world?
What experiments can help us get to know and journey with our neighbours?

Stepping out and trying something new can be scary. Being brave, taking risks, and putting ourselves out there in our neighbourhoods can be daunting. Rooted in God's unconditional love, we are washed by the waters of grace that free us from striving for perfection and success. In Christ Jesus, we have the freedom to take risks and to discern God's presence that is alive and active in our world. So are you ready to explore and experiment? Have any ideas how to hear, see, learn, and join in what God is up to in your community?

Vigil for Peace continues - Prayers for Ukraine and the World - Fridays 7 PM PDT.

Each Friday, as we gather in prayer for peace, we pray for Ukraine and the world. Please join us in prayer and share this invitation widely.

We know this is a time of anxiety and deep uncertainty.  We invite you to pause and join us for a short a short vigil service, as we gather to light candles as a symbol of peace and pray for all those impacted by the invasion of Ukraine as well as all those suffering as a result of war and political oppression.

Come as you are, bring a candle to light, and gather with people from BC and beyond. If you have events scheduled, consider inviting those you are with to join us at 7:00pm for this short time of prayer (approx. 15 minutes).

The leadership of these prayer times in the coming weeks will be shared. If you are interested in helping with leadership, please let the BC Synod Office know.

Congregational offices and leaders, please send this invitation out to your email lists. Let us all continue to pray.

With thanks,
Bishop Kathy Martin
Pastor Katrina Vigen
Pastor Jane Gingrich
Pastor Kristen Steele
