Provincial and Regional restrictions have been updated as of April 8, 2022.

In-Person Worship, Sunday, 10 AM PDT

Church Council continues to work to see that in-person worship is safer for everyone. We will adjust our plans as health orders change.

Being vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for the health of yourself and others. We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be fully vaccinated.

We will continue to livestream worship each Sunday.

May 22, Sixth Sunday of Easter
Everyone planning to come to worship are asked to follow these requirements:
  • If you are not feeling well and experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms or if you are not vaccinated, please stay home and participate in worship online.
  • You are encouraged but not required to wear a mask when entering the building and throughout worship.
  • Observe social distancing.
  • Sanitize or wash hands as needed.
  • You are welcome to sing and you are encouraged to wear a mask.
  • We will greet one another and share the peace at a distance.
  • Holy Communion will be served with bread and individual glasses of wine that are spaced in the trays. You may commune with bread or wine alone if you wish.
  • It is not required that people register for worship ahead of time or sign in as you arrive.
We will continue to make adjustments as needed and keep you informed of any changes. Your feedback on your experience with in-person worship is valued.  Please let any member of Church Council, Pastors, or the church office know of any questions, concerns or ideas for making in-person worship and Sunday School safer and meaningful for everyone.
Thank you!

The Trustees wish to thank all who came and volunteered their time and talents for the 2022 Annual Spring Cleanup.  By all measure it was a resounding sucess with all the necessary areas looked after.  The church building and property look fantastic.  Many thanks to all.

From Brian Wismath:

As you may have heard, after a cold and snowy winter in Ontario, Emily and I have decided to keep roots planted in Victoria and will be moving back in August. Our plan is to spend some months each year in Ontario, close to our families, but to have a permanent base in Victoria.

This has opened up the opportunity for me to continue leading the VCM Summer Choral program. Since the program began in 2013, hundreds of singers have benefited from this intensive experience during the summer months. I've always appreciated the singers who use this program as warm-up for getting back to their seasonal choirs.

Gutsy Walk with Mattias Gilbrandsen
Sunday, June 5 at 1:00pm

Start and end location: Tulista Park in Sidney
Meeting time: 12:45pm

5k walk with photo scavenger hunt along the way for those who wish to participate. We will end back at Tulista park where we will have snacks and playground/skate park fun. Link to the route:

My name is Mattias Gulbrandsen and I am a confirmand at Church of the Cross. In February, a week before my 13th birthday, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. If you have never heard of colitis, it is an inflammatory bowel disease that leads to bleeding ulcers in my colon. Sounds scary, I know, but thanks to my doctors and BC Children's Hospital, I am getting the help I need. I have been able to return to school, hang with my friends and be a kid again. But this is a life-long disease and hopefully in my lifetime there will be a cure for kids like me.

On Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 1:00pm, I will be walking with my friends and family, along with thousands of others affected by Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, to raise funds and awareness for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research and patient programs. I am inviting my Church of the Cross friends to join me for a 5k walk along Sidney’s waterfront, a photo scavenger hunt for prizes, with fun and snacks at Tulista Park afterwards. Sign up at the link below and we’ll send you more details.

If you can’t join me for the walk, I am also fundraising for donations that will go to research and finding a cure for inflammatory bowel diseases.

To walk or donate, visit the home of Team Pootine.
