In-Person Worship, Sunday, 10 AM PDT

Church Council continues to work to see that in-person worship is safer for everyone. We will adjust our plans as health orders change.

Being vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for the health of yourself and others. We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be fully vaccinated.

We will continue to livestream worship each Sunday.

May 15, Fifth Sunday of Easter
Everyone planning to come to worship are asked to follow these requirements:
  • If you are not feeling well and experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms or if you are not vaccinated, please stay home and participate in worship online.
  • You are encouraged but not required to wear a mask when entering the building and throughout worship.
  • Observe social distancing.
  • Sanitize or wash hands as needed.
  • You are welcome to sing and you are encouraged to wear a mask.
  • We will greet one another and share the peace at a distance.
  • Holy Communion will be served with bread and individual glasses of wine that are spaced in the trays. You may commune with bread or wine alone if you wish.
  • It is not required that people register for worship ahead of time or sign in as you arrive.
We will continue to make adjustments as needed and keep you informed of any changes. Your feedback on your experience with in-person worship is valued.  Please let any member of Church Council, Pastors, or the church office know of any questions, concerns or ideas for making in-person worship and Sunday School safer and meaningful for everyone.

Greetings from Mackenzie Low, Community Health Coordinator

Mackenzie Low brings greetings to folks at Church of the Cross as the new Community Health Coordinator at the Community Health Clinic at Luther Court. While the clinic has not yet opened it’s doors to the public, Mackenzie and staff are laying the groundwork for the clinic to become a community hub in various ways. Look for an article in an upcoming edition of Crossroads to hear more directly from Mackenzie, including opportunities for partnership with groups in the church and wider community.

MAYStruation Days for Girls

MAYstruation is a month-long event building up to World Menstrual Health Day on May 28th. MAYStruation, the first National Project by Days for Girls Canada is to inspire people everywhere to start the conversation about period poverty, menstrual equity, and menstrual health education.  Many cultures treat menstruation as a taboo subject and girls must endure isolation, ostracization and shame during their period, unable to go to school or work when they are menstruating.

During the month of May, please paint your thumbnails red, make your own MYcycle, spread awareness, and donate to the Victoria Team Days for Girls or Days to show your support. Click HereSelect Victoria BC to donate to the local Team who makes kits to send overseas to Refugees around the world.

To help shatter the stigma of menstruation Days for Girls provides a sustainable menstrual hygiene kit to girls and women world-wide who not have access to menstrual supplies either because they cannot afford them or they are not available. The kits are provided at no cost to the recipients. Trained personnel not only ensure the kits go to girls and women needing  supplies but also teach the recipients about their cycle to instill self-confidence and dignity while also providing health training.  Each kit contains washable shields, liners, waterproof pouch, panties, washcloth, and soap all contained in a drawstring backpack.

The Victoria Pride Parade is back in-person

Mark your calendars and Save the Date:
Sunday, June 26, 2022

We are consulting with queer folks and allies at Church of the Cross about marching in the parade this year as we have done in previous years. The parade begins at 11 AM at Johnson Street Bridge (new route) and those marching would gather earlier. Some folks may choose to join the parade celebration after 10 AM worship. We’ll share more details when available.

Amazing Journey Day Camp

Registration for this year’s camp is now open. This year’s camp will be held from July 4th to 8th at St. George’s Anglican Church.
Register before May 15th and you will save $10.00.

Click here for more registration information.
