Provincial and Regional restrictions have been updated as of April 8, 2022.
Here is the public health restrictions page.
At Church of the Cross masks are recommended but not required. Choir members have been asked to wear masks and those singing are encouraged to as well.
In-Person Worship, Sunday, 10 AM PDT
Church Council continues to work to see that in-person worship is safer for everyone. We will adjust our plans as health orders change.
Being vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for the health of yourself and others. We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be fully vaccinated.
We will continue to livestream worship each Sunday.
June 26, 3rd Sunday after Pentecost
Everyone planning to come to worship are asked to follow these requirements:
- If you are not feeling well and experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms or if you are not vaccinated, please stay home and participate in worship online.
- You are encouraged but not required to wear a mask when entering the building and throughout worship.
- Observe social distancing.
- Sanitize or wash hands as needed.
- You are welcome to sing and you are encouraged to wear a mask.
- We will greet one another and share the peace at a distance.
- Holy Communion will be served with bread and individual glasses of wine that are spaced in the trays. You may commune with bread or wine alone if you wish.
- It is not required that people register for worship ahead of time or sign in as you arrive.
We will continue to make adjustments as needed and keep you informed of any changes. Your feedback on your experience with in-person worship is valued. Please let any member of Church Council, Pastors, or the church office know of any questions, concerns or ideas for making in-person worship and Sunday School safer and meaningful for everyone.

Damage to the Baptismal Font
Very sadly, the baptismal font was accidentally damaged at a recital last Sunday afternoon. We are in discussion with the renter and the artist who made the font about possible solutions to restore it. Until then, we have brought out the glass baptismal bowl and stand to serve for the time being. We will provide updates as we know more and look forward to having the beautiful font back in the worship space.

Making Reconciliation History
June has been a rich month for learning about and understanding Indigenous Peoples History in Canada and BC in particular. We are entering an era of making Truth and Reconciliation history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous people living together on these sacred lands.
Consider how you might be engaged in making history for achieving the goals of reconciliation. The Victoria Reconciliation Dialogues have 2 more events. The next one is on Monday July 11 at the Victoria Conference Centre. To register for a free ticket, go to this website: Click Here
The Church of the Cross Truth and Reconciliation Committee will be meeting virtually and in-person at the church on Tuesday, June 28 at 3pm. To join virtually, connect with this Zoom link:

Victoria Pride
Victoria Pride Events are underway and our sanctuary is decorated for it. Worship this Sunday, June 26, 10 AM, features a Pride-themed emphasis.
The Victoria Pride Week’s biggest and most colourful event is the Victoria Pride Parade on Sunday, June 26, 11 AM. Some congregation members, friends, and allies are going to be marching with a banner saying “Lutherans for Pride”. We want to show Victoria that we are a Queer Affirming church in a very public way. If you are able, please join us. If you are watching the parade from the sidewalk and you see us going by, come out and walk a little way with us.
If you want to join us marching in the parade, we will be meeting in Vic West in the marshal area on June 26 at 10 AM. Contact Pr. Lyndon at pastorlyndon@shaw.ca for more info.
Happy Pride.
