Video and highlights of May 30 Pentecost service

Dear friends,

On Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 3PM ESTThe Canadian Council of Churches was honoured to host “Together in One Place” (Acts 2:1), an online ecumenical prayer service for Western Pentecost and Eastern Orthodox Ascension. Over 750 people registered for the event, which was held via Zoom, making it the biggest ecumenical event the Council has organized in recent memory. Prayers, Scripture readings, and reflections were offered in English and French, and the service was attended by participants from both English-speaking and Francophone regions of Canada.

With over 750 people registered, this was the biggest ecumenical event the Canadian Council of Churches has organized in recent memory. We were grateful and honoured to have shared this experience with you!

Videos, texts, and other materials from the service are now available online.

We invite you to watch the
full video of the prayer service, read the story of this ecumenical event and view video, photo and text highlights on The Canadian Council of Churches’ website and YouTube channel.

We invite you to use and share these materials widely with your networks but please give credit to The Canadian Council of Churches.

In Christ’s abundant love,
The Canadian Council of Churches
COVID-19 Update
Church of the Cross has introduced a contact tracing sign-in sheet as you enter the front doors. If you are visiting the church please sign in entering name, date, and time, to help us keep track of who is in the church space. This is following recommended protocols from provincial public health authorities.
Lutheran Church of the Cross - Annual Spring Cleanup 2020

This year is very different and we simply can not do the clean-up in the normal manner during the pandemic.  Attached is a list of cleaning duties for volunteers to pick from and to complete in a safe manner over a few weeks time. We will send you a separate email with details.
Conversation with Raven Hartley & Ryan Pielle:
Indigenous Youth & Families in Greater Victoria During COVID-19
Dessert & Dialogue Livestream, Tuesday, June 16, 7:00 to 8:20 PM PDT

Join us for a conversation with Raven Hartley and Ryan Pielle, who are also staff of the Native Friendship Centre, to talk about their personal experiences as Indigenous neighbours, and their work with Indigenous youth and family.
Log on via the church web-site: LutheranVictoria.ca or Facebook page. We are trying something new using a livestream as we do for Sunday worship in order to reach a wider audience. You will be invited to ask questions during the second half of the conversation, which can be asked via the livestream chat (typed in the comment section). Contact the church office in advance if you have questions about logging in. You can also leave comments in the livestream chat during the event if you’re having trouble.
