In-Person Worship, Sunday, July 31, 10 AM PDT

Church Council continues to work to see that in-person worship is safer for everyone. We will adjust our plans as health orders change.

Being vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for the health of yourself and others. We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be fully vaccinated.

We will continue to livestream worship each Sunday.

July 31, 8th Sunday after Pentecost
Everyone planning to come to worship are asked to follow these requirements:
  • If you are not feeling well and experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms or if you are not vaccinated, please stay home and participate in worship online.
  • You are encouraged but not required to wear a mask when entering the building and throughout worship.
  • Observe social distancing.
  • Sanitize or wash hands as needed.
  • You are welcome to sing and you are encouraged to wear a mask.
  • We will greet one another and share the peace at a distance.
  • Holy Communion will be served with bread and individual glasses of wine that are spaced in the trays. You may commune with bread or wine alone if you wish.
  • It is not required that people register for worship ahead of time or sign in as you arrive.
We will continue to make adjustments as needed and keep you informed of any changes. Your feedback on your experience with in-person worship is valued.  Please let any member of Church Council, Pastors, or the church office know of any questions, concerns or ideas for making in-person worship and Sunday School safer and meaningful for everyone.
Marriage of Stephanie and Matt, July 30, 2022

We celebrate with and pray for Stephanie Kendal (daughter of Laurie and Ned Pederson) and Matt Marcoux, and their children Josie and Juliette, in their marriage on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in Victoria. All God’s blessings, grace and joy be with them now and always.
Baptism of Atley McKenzie, August 7, 2022

The Baptism of Atley George McKenzie, child of Holly and Braeden, will take place in worship on Sunday, August 7 at 10 AM. Please keep Atley and family in your prayers as they prepare for this day of blessing and celebration in the sacrament of Holy Baptism.
Indigenous Book Table

Next time you are in the Upper Hall at church, take a look at the Indigenous Book Table. There are several offerings of recently published books for adults and children. The TRC first offered this service in June with a table display of books dedicated to Indigenous Topics. It was well used by several people. If you have a book that you think others would enjoy, bring it to the table for sharing with another reader. You may find something of interest to you which you can borrow and return when finished reading it.

Hope Matters by Elon Elsey, a great read for these times, has recently been added to the table.

Truth and Reconciliation Committee
Interim Assistant to the Bishop

It is with great delight that we announce that Rev. Rebekah Swanson has been hired by the BC Synod to serve as our Interim Assistant to the Bishop.  Pastor Swanson began her work with the BC Synod on Monday, July 18th.   She will serve full-time for 6 months to 1 year as she continues to discern where God might be calling her next. We are delighted that we will enjoy her considerable gifts on the many projects underway through the bishop's office.  Her hiring will allow us to continue to develop a proposal for staffing that can take us into God's hopeful future.

She comes to us after resigning her call and ending her service at First Lutheran in Vancouver at the end of June.  Please join me in holding the people of this congregation as well as others in transition in our synod in our prayers.  Our joy must also hold space the congregation's sorrow.

For the remainder of the summer Rev. Rebekah will work from home and then transition to the BC Synod office in September as her schedule allows.  Please join me in extending a wide and warm welcome!  I appreciate her willingness to jump in and help out.  Her new email address is
rswansonbcsynod@gmail.com

With joy!
