Video Alert
As we watch the news and hear about the devastating wildfires and ongoing drought, we pray for creation, creatures and our brothers and sisters under threat.
As we ponder the climate crisis and wonder what we can do to help, you can join me this week for a conversation with Joanne Henning. Tune in on July 22 to hear a timely discussion on how the Henning’s are “greening the outdoors”.
Check out the video here.
What do you do?
On behalf of the Greening Committee, I invite you to share your passions/tips/advice. Email those tips, stories, and ideas to susandb@telus.net as we prepare for the Time of Creation Season in the fall.
In Peace,
Susan Beiderwieden

Want To Help?
Ever wonder what each of us can do to lessen our impact on the environment? Ever wonder how effective our individual efforts are?
I know I do, as do the members of the Greening Committee and so many of you. Our collective actions and search for ways to live kindly on Gods beautiful creation can help. As we share ideas and suggestions, we hope to pass along ways we can work together.
One such opportunity exists in how we shop, and the products we use. Since the early 1990s’, the Victoria Soap Exchange has been offering a comprehensive collection of green products that are 100% Canadian biodegradable cleaning products. By offering bulk and refills using your own containers, we can reduce plastic packaging problems.
Through their Clean Up Club, the Greening Committee benefits when each of us purchases our cleaning or personal products at the Soap Exchange. Here’s how it works.
When you go, tell them you are from LCC and they will record your total purchase on a page for Lutheran Church of the Cross, Greening Committee. When the page fills up, the Soap Exchange provides a check to the Greening Committee for 10% of all receipts.
Next time you wonder, what can I do, join us as part of the Clean Up Club.

Chaz Avery Online Drag “Love is Love” (Pride 2021)
We are privileged that local performer Chaz Avery recorded “Love is Love” at Church of the Cross, who has been joining us for worship for much of the pandemic, and helping us imagine ways to make ministry more queer affirming.

One way we support LGBTQIA2S+ neighbours is by sharing space. Consider sharing this YouTube video on your own social media pages. It’s an easy way to share the message about God’s expansive love.

For Brian
As many will know, our congregation’s Cantor, Brian Wismath and partner Emily, will be moving to Ontario later in the summer. We are making plans to say farewell. Part of a gift to Brian is gathering cards and messages for a scrapbook that Lennor Stieda is putting together with others. Please email your card or message to lennorstieda@gmail.com or drop them off at the church office. Receiving them in early July would be appreciated. We are also gathering funds for a gift for Brian which can also be dropped off or mailed to the church office. Brian’s last Sunday with us is August 22. More information about a planned farewell will be shared soon.
