You’re Invited!
Looking ahead into 2020, the Social Justice Committee has set the climate crisis and environmental protection as a focus for the year.   And as a kickoff, we are thrilled to host Catherine Boies Parker as a guest speaker for a breakfast presentation on February 1 – starting at 9:00am.
Ms. Parker is representing more than a dozen young Canadian activists who have filed a lawsuit against the federal government over climate change, claiming Ottawa has violated their fundamental rights by contributing to the warming planet, and demanding a national plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  According to an article by CBC news, the young people are calling on the Canadian government to create a climate change plan that lowers the country's greenhouse gas emissions "in a manner consistent with what best available science indicates is needed for the federal government to protect young Canadians, do its fair share to stabilize the climate system and avert the catastrophic consequences of climate change."
Climate change affects us all.  Let’s find out what we can do to help reverse the damage.
Let’s do it for ourselves.  Let’s do it for our kids.  Let’s do it for all future generations.
Please join us for breakfast for this important and informative presentation.

Luther Court Assistants
One of the long-time ministries of the
congregation is  sharing Sunday morning worship with those who live at Luther Court. Worship books are assembled by office staff each week and taken to the Luther Court Library so that they are there Sunday morning. Then through the audio/video feed, residents are able to share in Sunday morning worship assisted by the caring ministry of people of the congregation that serve as Luther Court Assistants with them in the Library.

Although those that have served at Luther Court as Assistants have been a very faithful group, circumstances mean that, occasionally, we have had openings in the roster. Beginning in February, we are in need of 4 persons (or 2 teams) to be a part of this ministry. This would mean that you would be part of a 2 month rotation that requires being at Luther Court once every 2 months. Dates will be sent out ahead of time and orientation is available.

Please consider this opportunity for ministry and speak to Jeanie Stann, any member of the Worship Board, or contact the church office if you are interested -250-477-6222.
Weekly Bible Discussion – Mondays, 7:00 – 8:30 PM
The
discussion focuses on the upcoming Sunday’s Bible readings and the connections and meaning for our time. No prior knowledge of the Bible is necessary. All voices and perspectives are welcome. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Lyle or the Church office.
