Advent Children’s Program and Lunch on Sunday, December 22nd
Though Deacons have hosted a  dinner for  Advent in previous years, this year, with the change from talent night to the participation of the children in a program for Sunday morning worship, Deacons will host an ADVENT LUNCH after the 10:00 am worship on the 22nd.  It will be a simple lunch of chili, buns and the trimmings.   This will be an opportunity to celebrate Advent with the children and have a quick yet full lunch together.  If you are able, please bring a few cookies to share for dessert. Thank you, it is much appreciated.
Lunch following Worship this Sunday, December 22nd
Thank you to the
Board of Deacons for hosting an Advent lunch for everyone
following worship and the children’s presentation this Sunday. Chili, buns and “trimmings,” and the time together are much appreciated. Everyone is invited to join for the meal.
Thanks for the beautiful Christmas tree
Thank you to Jeanie Stann for arranging for the beautiful
Christmas tree, to Rose and Rob Calland for delivering the tree, and to all those who were able to help with
setting-up, putting on lights and decorating the tree!
Longest Night Service at St. Luke Cedar Hill Anglican Church
 Sunday, December 22nd, 7:00 pm
This time of year can be difficult for many people because of loss or changes in our lives. You are invited to a Longest Night Service, a service of light in the midst of  loneliness. This is a time to come and enter gently into a quiet holy time and is open to everyone. You are welcome to invite a friend to come and share with you in this service of remembrance and hope.
Prepare to welcome the New Year! Everyone is invited to a New Year’s Eve Taizé service with candlelight, chant, prayer, anointing with oil, word and silence. This service will take place on December 31, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., at St. Philip Anglican Church, 2928 Eastdowne Road.
Luther Court Assistants
One of the long-time ministries of the
congregation is  sharing Sunday morning worship with those who live at Luther Court. Worship books are assembled by office staff each week and taken to the Luther Court Library so that they are there Sunday morning. Then through the audio/video feed, residents are able to share in Sunday morning worship assisted by the caring ministry of people of the congregation that serve as Luther Court Assistants with them in the Library.

Although those that have served at Luther Court as Assistants have been a very faithful group, circumstances mean that, occasionally, we have had openings in the roster. Beginning in February, we are in need of 4 persons (or 2 teams) to be a part of this ministry. This would mean that you would be part of a 2 month rotation that requires being at Luther Court once every 2 months. Dates will be sent out ahead of time and orientation is available.

Please consider this opportunity for ministry and speak to Jeanie Stann, any member of the Worship Board, or contact the church office if you are interested.
Looking for safe affordable housing for the New Year. A student on internship in Victoria is looking for furnished accommodation in the Burnside/downtown area for January to April (or longer). If you are aware of anything available, please contact the church office. Your help is appreciated.
Dessert & Dialogue - Thursday, January 9th
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM - Let’s talk about
Indigenous Law with John Burrows, acclaimed
Indigenous Law scholar at UVic.
Hosted by Truth & Reconciliation Committee at Church of the Cross
