Advent Beginnings – an afternoon worship of music and readings with special guest, acclaimed poet and author, Lorna Crozier – this Sunday, December 1 at 4:00 PM at Lutheran Church of the Cross. The music will include the choirs of St. Luke and Church of the Cross, and congregational song, with selected readings by Lorna Crozier. A reception will follow. An offering will be received in support of the Shelbourne Community Kitchen. Be sure to make this part of
beginning the Advent season together. If you are able, donations of cheese and
crackers and fruit are welcome for the reception. If you have any questions, please speak with Jeanie Stann.
Blessed New Year Church Year and Season of Advent
Thank you to everyone who assisted with resetting the
sanctuary space and preparing for this new season. A different order of worship, with simple song verses, invites us to sing without books for part of the worship and offers quieter times and music for this season of preparation and anticipation in the midst of often busy days of December. Thank you to Marge Adams and Don Storch for making the beautiful Advent Wreath this year. And thank you to Lynn Jones for the beautiful Advent weaving that stands near the Baptismal font. Everyone is also encouraged to join in Advent Candlelight worship on Thursdays, December 5, 12, 19, 7:00-7:30 PM using Holden Evening Prayer. All are welcome!
Notes of Sadness

It is with great sadness that we
announce the death of Zachary MacKenzie, son of
Linda Nielsen and grandson of Ingemann. A memorial for Zachary will take place on Saturday, November 30 at 1 PM at Church of the Cross. Our prayers are with Linda and Tim, Hailey, Sophie, Amy, Samantha, Ingemann, and all who grieve for Zachary.

Obituary Zachary MacKenzie

And it is with great sadness that we announce the death of Debra Beiersdorfer,
daughter of Amelia, in a car accident near Jasper, AB. Our prayers are also with Amelia and her family and all who grieve for Debra. No information about a memorial is available at this time.

And our prayers are with Tammy Heard, our Bookkeeper, and her family, in the death of her father after an extended time of illness.

God bless and surround everyone with love and comfort and hope of new life in the risen Christ.
Rest eternal grant them, O God, and let light perpetual shine upon them.
