Provincial and Regional restrictions have been updated as of April 8, 2022.
Here is the public health restrictions page.
At Church of the Cross masks are recommended but not required. Choir members have been asked to wear masks and those singing are encouraged to as well.
In-Person Worship, Sunday, August 7, 10 AM PDT
Church Council continues to work to see that in-person worship is safer for everyone. We will adjust our plans as health orders change.
Being vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for the health of yourself and others. We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be fully vaccinated.
We will continue to livestream worship each Sunday.
August 7, 9th Sunday after Pentecost
Everyone planning to come to worship are asked to follow these requirements:
- If you are not feeling well and experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms or if you are not vaccinated, please stay home and participate in worship online.
- You are encouraged but not required to wear a mask when entering the building and throughout worship.
- Observe social distancing.
- Sanitize or wash hands as needed.
- You are welcome to sing and you are encouraged to wear a mask.
- We will greet one another and share the peace at a distance.
- Holy Communion will be served with bread and individual glasses of wine that are spaced in the trays. You may commune with bread or wine alone if you wish.
- It is not required that people register for worship ahead of time or sign in as you arrive.
We will continue to make adjustments as needed and keep you informed of any changes. Your feedback on your experience with in-person worship is valued. Please let any member of Church Council, Pastors, or the church office know of any questions, concerns or ideas for making in-person worship and Sunday School safer and meaningful for everyone.

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Arlene Chalmers on June 1, 2022. Arlene was recently a resident at Mount Saint Mary’s Hospital. A family celebration of her life and committal of her and late husband Jim’s cremated remains has taken place. Our prayers are with Arlene’s family. Rest eternal grant her, O God, and let light perpetual shine upon her.

Multifaith Work in Action
an exciting opportunity!
We have been invited to join with members from Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue in their sponsorship of a Muslim Syrian family currently living as refugees in Southeast Asia. The Social Justice Committee (SJC) unanimously and whole heartedly agreed to support this project. We believe that this is an example to us, to the members of the synagogue and especially to the wider community of people of differing faiths working together for the good of others.
Pastor Lyndon and Sherry Coughlin will be working closely with the members from the synagogue. Our present focus will be helping to raise the remaining funds needed to bring this family of 6 to a new and safe life in Canada. We will be working collaboratively with the Jewish community in planning and hosting events for not only our faith communities but including the wider community as well. Look for what we dream up!
Thanks to your generous financial support of refugees, the SJC has pledged $2,000 towards this sponsorship, but an additional $18,000 from the wider community is needed by the end of October. We will be working together with the members of the synagogue to raise these funds. If you would like to make a donation through your church envelope or on-line giving, using the designated offering line, write “SRS” (Syrian Refugee Sponsorship) next to the amount.
We thank you for your prayers, support, encouragement in this and all the social justice work we do!

Hiroshima & Nagasaki Day at Gorge Park on August 9
On Tuesday, August 9 at 6:00 to 9:00pm, a special event is planned to commemorate the devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by nuclear bombs in 1945. This year, the event is at a beautiful new location!
As the world's immense nuclear arsenal has been made illegal but not yet disarmed 77 years later, this celebration of Japanese culture at the stunning new Gorge Park Pavilion (next to the Japanese Gardens) reminds us of the need to treasure & work for peace.
Admission is free, but donations to contribute to the cost of the event will be welcome on site.
You can register Eventbrite. Registration isn't necessary but will allow people to get reminders.

Decolonizing climate action
Decolonizing climate action will underscore KAIROS’ fourth annual Climate Action Month, which launches September 1. Throughout September, KAIROS will explore weekly themes through online content and actions that will include a Canada focus (fossil fuels and environmental racism), global grassroots women’s organizations, and Indigenous rights.
KAIROS’ Climate Action Month amplifies the World Council of Churches’ Season of Creation, which runs from September 1 (World Day of Prayer for Creation) to October 4(St. Francis of Assisi Day). The theme of this year’s Season of Creation is Listen to the Voice of Creation, in recognition of the voices that are muted or silenced in their attempts to communicate the climate crisis. Learn more here.
