In-Person Worship, Sunday, August 14, 10 AM PDT

Church Council continues to work to see that in-person worship is safer for everyone. We will adjust our plans as health orders change.

Being vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best protection for the health of yourself and others. We strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to be fully vaccinated.

We will continue to livestream worship each Sunday.

August 14, 10th Sunday after Pentecost
Everyone planning to come to worship are asked to follow these requirements:
  • If you are not feeling well and experiencing any Covid-19 related symptoms or if you are not vaccinated, please stay home and participate in worship online.
  • You are encouraged but not required to wear a mask when entering the building and throughout worship.
  • Observe social distancing.
  • Sanitize or wash hands as needed.
  • You are welcome to sing and you are encouraged to wear a mask.
  • We will greet one another and share the peace at a distance.
  • Holy Communion will be served with bread and individual glasses of wine that are spaced in the trays. You may commune with bread or wine alone if you wish.
  • It is not required that people register for worship ahead of time or sign in as you arrive.
We will continue to make adjustments as needed and keep you informed of any changes. Your feedback on your experience with in-person worship is valued.  Please let any member of Church Council, Pastors, or the church office know of any questions, concerns or ideas for making in-person worship and Sunday School safer and meaningful for everyone.
Thank You

Thank you to Rev. Dr. John Gram for leading worship this Sunday while Pastor Lyndon is on vacation and Pastor Lyle is at a wedding on the mainland.
Pastor Lyndon on Vacation

Pastor Lyndon is on vacation for the next three weeks. We wish he and Florentien and family a restful and joyful time visiting with family.
Sunday School Update

Sunday School resumes September 11, 2022, during 10 AM worship.

We will release a fall schedule when we’ve had a chance to consult with families with young children which Sundays work best for them.
Multi-Faith Work in Action
an exciting opportunity!

We have been invited to join with members from Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue in their sponsorship of a Muslim Syrian family currently living as refugees in Southeast Asia.  The Social Justice Committee (SJC) unanimously and whole heartedly agreed to support this project.  We believe that this is an example to us, to the members of the synagogue and especially to the wider community of people of differing faiths working together for the good of others.

Pastor Lyndon and Sherry Coughlin will be working closely with the members from the synagogue.  Our present focus will be helping to raise the remaining funds needed to bring this family of 6 to a new and safe life in Canada.  We will be working collaboratively with the Jewish community in planning and hosting events for not only our faith communities but including the wider community as well.  Look for what we dream up!

Thanks to your generous financial support of refugees, the SJC has pledged $2,000 towards this sponsorship, but an additional $18,000 is needed by the end of October.  We will be working together with the members of the synagogue to raise these funds.  If you would like to make a donation through your church envelope or on-line giving, using the designated offering line, write “SRS” (Syrian Refugee Sponsorship) next to the amount.

We thank you for your prayers, support, encouragement in this and all the social justice work we do!

Water and Justice at the WCC 11th Assembly

"The global water crisis is not simply about dealing with scarcity, it's about fighting inequality and discrimination, about addressing blatant mismanagement and often also corruption."

For Bishop Arnold Temple, chair of the
WCC Ecumenical Water Network, this is why it is important for churches to keep raising awareness and speaking up about water being a matter of justice and rights. "It's great to see that the importance of water and the churches' commitment to water justice are going to be reflected in the programme of the upcoming WCC 11th Assembly," Temple notes.
