For the past 2 years, 20+ adults have come together once a week to participate in academic courses on the New Testament. Each course consists of 24 lectures by a prominent university professor, with approximately half of the lectures offered September-November, and the other half in January-March. The lectures are delivered on DVD’s supplied by The Learning Company as part of their Great Courses program. The Learning Company also supplies Course Guidebooks for each participant. After each half-hour lecture, participants spend an hour discussing what they have seen, what their questions are, and how the material impacts their personal faith. Give that these are university-level courses (but without exams and homework), the material often proves challenging, but the insights provided help all participants become better readers of the Bible.
    The courses undertaken so far:
    - 2010/11: The New Testament – Dr. Bart D. Ehrman, University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill)
    - 2011/12: Jesus and the Gospels – Dr. Luke Timothy Johnson, Emory University (Atlanta)
Participants meet in the spring of each year to decide which course they want to undertake the following autumn.
All are welcome to join us at either the morning or evenings sessions each week. Please contact the Church Office for further information.
